The Lister-Sink Method can be taught successfully to children by a certified teacher. However, injured or advanced keyboardists may require further evaluation by one or more healthcare professionals before study can begin. Evaluation by an orthopaedists, neurologist or physical therapist may be necessary to determine the exact nature of the injury or discomfort. The Lister-Sink Method teacher then works in conjunction with such a professional.

During the actual training, and given the definition of technique as an activity of the whole body, study with a certified Alexander Technique instructor, when available, greatly enhances, facilitates and deepens the learning experience.
